Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the total variety of life on Earth. It includes all species and habitats from vast oceans and forests to wee ants and plants, and it includes us!
Biodiversity provides us with products like food and clothing, services like the absorption of carbon dioxide, medicines and beautiful creatures and landscapes.
Biodiversity is important for our daily lives therefore it is essential, both now and in the future, that we protect our local biodiversity.
Biodiversity Action Plan
The first Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Action Plan was produced in 2003. The production of this plan was instrumental in maintaining and enhancing habitats and species within Clackmannanshire through focused local action. In addition, the plan promoted increased awareness of local biodiversity in the communities of Clackmannanshire.
The new Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Action Plan 2012 - 2017 has been produced by the Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Partnership with support from the Council's Sustainability Team.
Public consultation
The consultation on the draft closed on Monday 16th April and provided a chance for local people to influence how we protect habitats and species in the County over the next five years.
Clackmannanshire Council undertook a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Action Plan 2012 - 2017 in accordance with the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005.
An Environmental Report was produced that assesses the potential environmental impacts arising from delivery of the Plan.
