Active Schools
Active schools is a term given to all schools in Scotland that provide pupils with sufficient opportunities to get active to the extent that it makes a positive contribution to their health.
The fundamental aim of the Active Schools network is to offer all children and young people the opportunity and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles now and into adulthood by engaging in physical activity and sport.
We are also working to strengthen pathways to participation and performance through sustainable school to community links.

Local Active Schools Team
Clackmannanshire's Active Schools Team consists of a manager and five co-ordinators whose remits cover the 19 primary schools, three secondaries and additional support needs establishments. They are responsible for co-ordinating and developing a huge programme of physical activity and sports opportunities which are available below to view or download:

Key Outcomes
Clackmannanshire Council's investment in Active Schools aims to deliver the following key outcomes:
- Increase participation levels amongst hard to reach groups by adopting a targeted approach towards
- girls and young women;
- children in transition from primary to secondary;
- children and Young people with additional support needs;
- children and young people not currently involved in physical activity and sport.
Our key outcomes will be delivered by
- building a sustainable volunteer network and providing an appropriate volunteering infrastructure for Active Schools and the wider community;
- providing opportunities for all children and young people to participate in physical activity and sport and enable the creation of pathways from school to the wider community.
